Test LITHOS to build on Basis
Fund your devnet account and start testing. No sign-up and no captcha: your browser solves a small proof of work and that is it.
It is what basis wallet new prints, or what the Basis
wallet gives you. It is 32 bytes: 64 characters.
In a hurry?
Ask for them on Discord with /faucet
— it is instant there.
Everything you need to get started
Three steps: an account, some LITHOS and an endpoint. Nothing else.
Create your account
Download the Basis CLI and create it. The key is stored encrypted on your machine.
basis wallet new --encrypted \
--output my.keystore.json
Keep that file and its password. Without both there is no way to recover the account: nobody has a copy.
Request funds
Up here, or with /faucet on Discord. The policy
is the same in both places: one payout per account every 24 hours.
The Basis wallet has a shortcut that opens this page with your address already filled in.
Connect to the RPC
Every request needs a named token, free and revocable on its own.
You ask for it on Discord with /rpc-token.
Network details
Basis is post-quantum: an Ethereum wallet can only read here. Addresses are 32 bytes instead of 20 and signatures are ML-DSA-65, not secp256k1, so MetaMask, ethers.js or Hardhat can query the chain but cannot sign a transaction for it.
Why a proof of work and not a captcha
A captcha is solved for thousandths of a dollar by services that do it at scale, and it also means depending on a third party.
Proof of work charges in computation, which is exactly what a farmer would have to multiply for every address: your address goes inside the hash, so the work cannot be reused for another one. It takes a few seconds on an ordinary laptop.
